Arthroscopic Surgery
I met two great surgeons in the fall of 1989.
The first one was Dr D.Caspari when he came to Switzerland to speak about his arthroscopic technique for shoulder instability .
The second one was Dr L.L.Johnson in New York during the 4th annual meeting of the Shoulder and Elbow Society.
I organized a trip to visit Lanny Johnson and to attend the shoulder course of D.Caspari.
This allows me to watch L.L.Johnson performing shoulder and knee surgery and to browse through his many videos. I discover the instruments he designed did also brought back some of his instruments.
Then I attended the shoulder course of Dr Caspari in Richmond which allows me to practice and improve.
In the next years I attended other courses from AANA and most of annual meeting form AANA. Today over 20 attendances.
I was accepted as an international member of AANA in 2000, my sponsors were Dr S.S Burkhart (see interview ) and Dr J.P.Tasto (see interview ) both past presidents.
AANA meeting 2010 with Dr Tasto and Dr Burkhart .
Arthroscopic surgery is a technique and a minimal invasive strategy that allows addressing joint problem not only in shoulder and knee but also in wrist, elbow, hip, ankle and foot. I performed surgery in all those joints since 1993.
